Eg: I can't buy normal milk anymore because of the use of bovine growth hormone, and the chemicals in most cleaning products are extremely harmful to the environment when the inevitably find their way into rivers, polluting, killing wildlife and damaging crops.
But the thing is I'm a student and so many natural and organic products are so much more expensive so every time I go to buy anything its a battle between wanting to save money and wanting to save the world!
And to make things worse I've just started investigating the impact of the fashion world on the environment for an article I'm writing so now even clothes shopping has become even more impossible than it was before!
Opening my eyes was so easy; now all I want to do is close them right back up again! Ignorance really is bliss but its too late for that: my conscience has taken over!

Great find in the evil shop!

Went into the evil store that shall not be named today - dont even get me started on why its evil! Lets just say its propaganda filled rants in the paper make me red with anger! Anyway, I still cant resist going in even though I hate it(maybe thats why I like it) and so in I went today preparing to feel smug for walking out without buying anything as usual and what did I find: natural cleaning products!
Ok so it wasnt very exciting, just the same old white vinegar, borax and bicarb of soda that you can find anywhere, but it was so cheap and also a flash of inspiration! I spend so much time looking for natural based cleaning products and hating how expensive they were yet didnt even think of the most simple solution, one that has been used for many years. People didnt need all of the different chemicals in the 1950's that are put in modern cleaning products. Maybey they have superior bug cleaning powers, but if you keep clean that shouldnt be an issue, and whats worse: a few natural bugs that your body is designed to beat or cancer causing chemicals that we dont stand a chance against?
When I was in the supermarket the other day attempting to buy washing powder for my clothes I got to reading the ingredients (yes Im a little obsessive!) and the one that scared me the most was formaldehyde. It just sounds scary and anything that is used for pickling dead creatures is not something I want in or on my body. Pickled heart? No thanks! And guess what? I was reading on the leaflet that came with my cleaning products that bicarb can be used to clean clothes! Ok so some of you may have known this for ages but I didnt realise it was THAT versatile! So now it seems my all round cleaning dilemma has been solved for now. I bought some ecover fabric conditioner to keep my clothes soft and smelling nice and thats it! Almost cant wait to do cleaning. Think I might do it now!
